Important Reminders:

  1. Please eat a light meal the night before surgery and try to avoid fatty, greasy or fried foods.  Please remember not to eat or drink anything by mouth after midnight the day before your surgery.  The only exception to this is medications you have been directed to take first thing in the morning with a sip of water.  The hospital will call you to let you know when your infant or child must stop food and drink before surgery.

  1. It is best to avoid tobacco products for 24 hours prior to surgery.  Alcohol should be avoided for at least 48 hours prior to surgery due to possible interference with anesthesia and thinning the blood.

  1. Please take a thorough shower or bath the morning or night before surgery.  Also, please shampoo you hair as well.  It is important to be clean while going into surgery to decrease the chances of getting an infection after surgery.

  1. Do not wear jewelry or bring money to the hospital.

  1. Avoid wearing your hair in a ponytail or beaded behind the head.
